Centre for Settlement Studies | The Centre for Settlements Studies is a team of multi-disciplinary researchers and academics ranging from Planners, Architects, Social Scientists, Economist as well as varied experts in the Built Environment. Our approach to dealing with issues of poverty and improving the lives of communities in Ghana and other developing countries is based on our three core activities: Research, Teaching and Advisory Services. The Centre’s activities are deeply embedded in theory and practice. Research Fellows have experience working at both national and international levels, and possess expertise working in different countries, and sectors, providing an intellectual base and home for interdisciplinary settlement-related research. The Centre’s research philosophy is driving on the concept of co-production of knowledge in linking research to teaching and above all seeking to make research relevant and making impact in communities. |
Centre of Excellence for Housing Studies | The Centre of Excellence for Housing Studies provide bridging the yawning gap that currently exist between academic training in housing and professional skills and practice. The Centre strikes a good balance between delivering the theoretical underpinning of housing provision, management, practice skills transfer and acquisition. The Centre create a network that brings together students, professionals and practitioners to interact, share knowledge and learn. The Centre add value to existing Built Professionals whilst building on the new required Housing Professionals for the purposes of professionals for the purposes of professionally managing and maintaining stock and relationships whilst ensuring that new strategies are designed to help more people on the property ladder in a constructive way. |
Centre for Cultural and African Studies (CeCASt) | CeCASt is the oldest amongst the two research centres of the CoHSS that undertakes research, teaching, and co-curricular activities in African studies, cultural studies, and performing arts. The Centre has a long history of providing the University and surrounding communities with performing arts. Our vision is to become Africa’s premier Cultural and African Studies centre of excellence, providing high-quality teaching and research that addresses emerging challenges in the Cultural and African Studies space.
