Teaching
The Research Fellows of the Centre for Settlements Studies (CSS) participate in the teaching programmes (including students’ project supervision) of the Department of Architecture, Building Technology, Planning and Land Economy all at the College of Art and Built Environment and Department of Chemistry which is outside the College.
Research and Promotion of Knowledge
In line with the UNs Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the New Urban Agenda and the 2063 AU Urban Development Agenda, the current concern of the Centre is to upscale research for the development of human habitats which include the various aspects of livelihood such as population growth and employment, urbanization, housing, vulnerability, livelihood analysis, gender, microfinance, poverty, infrastructure and social services, land use planning and physical development, governance and decentralization, and settlements management. The Centre’s outreach programmes comprise the development and management of settlements and services for capacity building of relevant institutions, groups and individuals.
