The Faculty of Art opened its annual Art Exhibition on 22nd February, 2016 at the KNUST Great Hall Foyer themed “State of the Art”. The exhibition is to disseminate knowledge and to share with the larger public results of sustained research and experimentation.
The exhibition aims at presenting the state of affairs, as it pertains in the Faculty of Art, KNUST at the students’ level. It also presents propositions, claims and provocations in the form of artworks.
Dr. Osei Poku, Dean of the Faculty of Art, said that the Faculty deemed it expedient to exhibit works of its students because art was incomplete without an audience and as such needed to be exhibited. He observed that the exhibition of the students’ works was planned thoroughly by an exhibition team led by Dr. Mrs. Dorothy Amenuke, a lecturer at the Department of Painting and Sculpture. She mentioned that exhibitions were to motivate the students to work harder and add cultural value to give identity to the university.
Bernard Akoi-Jackson, on behalf of the exhibition team, remarked that the exhibition was created to allow the audience to analyze the ideas behind the art works. He stated that the art works being exhibited would be changed day by day during the one-week duration – 22nd to 29th February, 2016.
